The only "interesting" thing about New Orleans I saw there is the outsider's viewpoint. Mildly amusing, as the observer is clearly detached from the realities of local life. One of the comments said about the "stinking underwear" of American society. Well, as far as I know, any underwear starts stinking rather quickly, that's why most people change it daily.

As to the conspiracy theories, I prefer to collect them from the original sources ;-).
